Putting People First

Putting People First offers daily insights on User Experience, Experience Design and People-Centered Innovation and the blogposts carry a common theme of providing some insight on how to create products and services that are driven by an understanding of people.

Roughly 6,000 people read Putting People First per day, and the site is available as a group on Facebook and there is a Twitter connection as well, which is expected as those two social networking applications have that hipness factor to them. You are also able to access the e-democracy blog from Putting People First; e-democracy is a blog that is model off of Putting People First, you could say it is its off-spring, and it's main focus is to discuss creative ways to increase citizen participation in online public service.

Mark Vanderbeeken of Experientia, an experience design company, maintains the blog. Vanderbeeken is a specialist in visioning, identity development and strategic communications and is the communications director for UXnet, the global user experience network and writes for Core77, as well as other innovation sites.

Putting People First covers huge swath of concepts, with broad topics ranging from Audience, Business, Culture, Design, Location, Media, Methods, Services and Social Issues. Each of the broad topics has essentially a drop-down menu of more detailed subjects that get into the nitty-gritty of the experience design and people-centered innovation theme that carries through the entire site.

For instance, under "Methods" you can choose from the subset categories of Ethnography, Foresight, Prototype, Scenarios, Usability, User Experience, User Research. Each subset takes you a series of blog posts that cover that topic, and is fairly detailed in the reprinting of the post, which also contains a link to the full story; basically your standard aggregator blog.

Putting People First is a complex site as it has a wide spectrum of topics that it covers quite well, but it is very simple to navigate through.
