Virtual Instrument Replication (VIR) Network: A network of chemical instrumentation and PCs that eliminates the cues that form when a single instrument (e.g. infrared spectrometer, gas chromatograph, etc.) must be used by many students in an instructional laboratory. Designed, built, and implemented a system (VIR) that “replicates” the instrument interface on PCs in a multi-seat computer laboratory. Instruments are used only for data collection while time-consuming, data reduction activities are performed in the computer lab.

Software Grade Book; Designed and implemented a computer grade book for university faculty using Visual Basic for Applications and MS Excel. Features included one-page setup, selectable grading components (e.g. exams, quizzes, attendance, etc.), configurable grading scales and custom student progress reports.

Fine pressure control valve for rotary evaporators; allows more precise control of pressure during vacuum evaporation (Kean University, constructed for use by own research group, 2002).
