man-powered catamaran

Summary:
Using laterally swinging foils to transmit human power from pedals this craft will easily sustain 8 kph with just 2 OB and 7 carrying a payload up to 400 kgs. It will penetrate winds up to 18 kph. Although designed for leisure use in a tropical climate it could easily be adapted to give crew shelter for fishing in more hostile environments.
The propulsion system has been in use on a prototype hire craft for 4 years and showed good reliability and resilience. The new version on the drawing board has many advantages over this version.

Full Description:
The inventor has been involved in developing leading edge water craft as a hobby for mant yearsduring which time he has worked as an agricultural helicopter pilot using spray gear he designed and made himself in NZ. He has many other inventions to his name including the ZUD racing windsurfer which won the 2000 open national windsurfing champs in UK. He designed and flew from the moble heliports used in England during the '70s and '80s. Now he is devoting his remaining years to developing man-powered craft to offset the rising cost of fossil fuels.

Problem this idea/invention addresses:
Many: -
1. minimum loss of energy,
2. no skill required,
3. minimal risk of foundering even in very rough seas
4. only 2 required to power but 4pax payload
