The Dual is Kool Oil Cooling and Filtering System is a unique oil cooler and filtering assembly that integrates a two filter system linked in a series. This system has a unique aesthetic feature that not only protects the filters, but also provides a significant cooling advantage over conventional oil cooler assemblies with its unique aerodynamic high air flow design. The filtration system is a two stage process consisting of two standard (readily available commercial filters). The first filter is used to trap large microns while the second filter captures small microns. The manifolds are connected with a oil passover tube or for a cleaner look you can use a crossover tube allowing oil to pass through the first filter, and over to the second filter through a inlet and out let on the manifolds. The connections are of compression fittings and rubber O - ring fittings. The filters are mounted to a finned manifold cooler blocks. The cooler blocks are designed to provide cooling as the oil is routed through the blocks and filters. The two piece oil fitting to which the filters are threaded onto have magnetic nuts. Which gives early indication of metal fragment and early indication of engine wear problem, which will be noticed when changing your oil.

The finned high airflow velocity tube covers that fit over the filters provide additional cooling of the oil as the air flows through and over the system. The system mounts to the front of the motorcycle frame behind the front wheel.

The Dual is Kool Oil Cooling and Filtering system also includes an air scoop. Which improves air flow over the manifold blocks and filters. The cooling system can be mounted to the motorcycle frame with two3/8 bolts. There are two different mounting plates. The first one is a solid one piece mounting plate which has an added benefit of mounting a regulator on top of the finned support mounting post. The finned support mounting posts draws and disperses heat from the manifolds, it also protects the regulator from overheating. The one piece mounting plate would require the motorcycle frame to run level with the road for optimal cooling benefits.

The cooling system also comes with a two piece hinged mounting plate. Which allows the angle to be adjusted to either maximize air flow or to fold up the entire system into the frame.

The scoop acts as stone guard splash guard or a fairing, providing protection from rocks and debris. When the cooling system is folded up in to the frame it also acts as a manual thermostat for warmer operating temperatures. The air scoop has a hydraulic support mount which bolts to the back of the air scoop for hydraulic or electromechanical actuator device. It also includes a linkage arm device which fits to the back of the air scoop with two bolts.

The system can be moved up and down using a small electric motor with a linkage lever arm and limit switches. For manual raising and lowering, it would require a locking shifter lever which would fit along the right or left side of the down tube. The hydraulic system, and electromechanical system or the electric motor requires your custom modified hook up.

The testing for the "dual is kool", was all done at the University of Windsor, under the supervision of Dr. Robert Gaspar head of the Mechanical Automotive and Materials Engineering Department. Dr. Bob Tattersalle Senior Engineering Technologist of M.A.M.E, Dr. Pat Seguin, Electronic Technologist, and Dr. Bruce Durfey Technologist of M.A.M.E were all a part of the testing team.

The system that was used for the testing the three sizes of the "Dual Is Kool" system is the wind tunnel designed for thermodynamic and Fluid Mechanic systems.

In preparation prior to testing I designed a sectional cutaway of a Harley frame, with a 3 ½ quart oil pot mounted on the frame. In front of the oil pot there was a V shaped block of foam mounted to the frame, to help keep oil hot in the oil pot by protecting it from the cooling effect of the high velocity air wind .A platform with a series of ½ NPT piping and 3/8 rubber oil line hoses with seven on off oil flow taps was located below the oil pot. The flow taps were arranged to have three stations F1- F2- F3, were used to test stock Harley single filter. The second station was used F1- F3-F4-F5, tested stock Harley system with two filters. Stations F6-F7, tested the "Dual Is Kool" systems, using CCI oil filters.
