A 3D GPS concept design could allow the visually impaired to navigate by 'reading' the tactile 3D map on the device's surface.
The concept, called Discover, takes advantage of pin-screen impression technology to build a 3D map of the user's surroundings. The device, which looks a bit like a remote control, would be equipped with a camera on the front and a rectangular pin surface on the upper top. As the camera records the scene in front of the user, the pins will raise or lower to form a tactile model of the environment that can be read with a thumb or fingers.
