AI and ECG Detect Blood Glucose Levels

AI and ECG Detect Blood Glucose Levels
Jan-17-20
An AI system able to identify blood glucose levels from ECG readings offers a non-invasive alternative to finger pricks.

Developed by a team from the University of Warwick, the process relies on an AI system that can identify the ECG readings of individual patients, which can vary widely. By developing a system using off-the-shelf sensors that can detect personalized fluctuations, the team was able to detect low-glucose incidents in healthy volunteers with an 82 percent accuracy.

According to Dr. Leandro Pecchia, “Our approach enables personalized tuning of detection algorithms and emphasizes how hypoglycemic events affect ECG in individuals. Basing on this information, clinicians can adapt the therapy to each individual.”
