AIRO Band Tracks Nutrition with Light

AIRO Band Tracks Nutrition with Light
Nov-03-13
Joining the trend of wrist-worn health sensors, the AIRO stands out from the pack with its optical spectroscopy technology, which allows it to track nutrition and distinguish between carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

By projecting light from an LED into the bloodstream, the AIRO is able to detect the metabolites as they are released during and after meals, allowing it to measure caloric intake and track meal quality. The device will also track stress levels by monitoring the heart rate, warning the user if their stress levels rise too high and learning over time the best calming techniques for the user to try. It communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth, and can also be set to function as a wrist-worn, vibration alarm.
