Anonabox Router Designed to Evade Censorship

Anonabox Router Designed to Evade Censorship
Oct-16-14
The Anonabox router lets users evade censorship by easily directing data through the Tor network in order to keep the IP address private.

Inspired by newscasts of protesters being cut off from the internet during the Arab Spring, the open-source router, already funded through Kickstarter, is small enough to carry—and use—discretely. It was developed specifically for use with Tor, the most secure way to access the internet anonymously, and will hide the user's location while keeping personal data private. The Anonabox is also designed for use in sensitive situations, and was intentionally built to be relatively easy to destroy, if necessary.

Because the router is open-source, the developers believe it will be easier to find and fix flaws, preventing leaks and thwarting hackers.
