Anthrokinemat Tracks Knee Strain to Prevent Injury

Anthrokinemat Tracks Knee Strain to Prevent Injury
Nov-28-19
The Anthrokinemat smart bandage measures joint strain readings in real-time to aid in the treatment of arthritic knees.

According to the team, which includes researchers from KIT and the University of Bremen, the Anthrokinemat was developed with the goal of treating arthrosis through proper, safe exercise. The knee-worn device is equipped with a network of sensors that monitor the movements of the knee, as well as a microprocessor that uses machine-learning algorithms to translate that data into strain levels. If the wearer is detected to be approaching potentially harmful strain levels, an alert will be sent to a paired device to provide a warning in real-time.
