Artifical Iris Responds to Light

Artifical Iris Responds to Light
Jun-24-17
An artificial iris able to respond to light automatically could have applications ranging from cameras to the human eye.

The artificial iris is made up of a light-controlled polymer that will expand when exposed to light, causing an opening in the center to grow larger. When the light is dimmed, the polymer will shrink, reducing the size of opening. The iris requires no power source, and its light detection is built-in, unlike the versions found in cameras.
