A new kind of bed linens uses a “dot matrix” design to help reduce the risk of bed sores in bed-ridden patients.
Developed by a team of Swiss researchers, the linen’s unique, woven design creates less surface contact with the skin and has fewer contact points than traditional linens. The gaps between the “dots” also make the material more absorbent. In tests, the linens were said to reduce sweat and improve blood circulation, resulting in greater patient comfort.
