Bee Saver is a First-Aid Kit for Bees

Bee Saver is a First-Aid Kit for Bees
Sep-12-14
A first-aid kit for bees that you can wear on a key ring aims to help save the important insects while making their plight more public.

Bees fly hundreds of miles every day, and some of those bees inevitably become tired and fall to the ground. But though the bee may seem to be dead, it is only exhausted and hungry—and this is where the Bee Saver steps in.

An entrant in the James Dyson Awards, the Bee Saver concept is a tiny compartment that carries a bit of bee-reviving nectar within. Its shape and color have been specifically chosen to appeal to bees, and designer Hady Ghassabian Gilan consulted with area bee-keepers to determine the best mix of sugars. When a fallen bee is spotted on the ground, the user can peel back the cover of the biodegradable container and set it nearby, where hopefully the bee will venture over for a revitalizing drink.
