Better Detection for Peanut Allergies

Better Detection for Peanut Allergies
Jun-28-17
A new nanoparticle-based method of detecting peanut allergies does not require the patient to be exposed to the allergen.

The process, from a team at the University of Notre Dame, relies on nanoparticles called ‘nanoallergens,’ which are designed to mimic natural allergens. The nanoallergen technology offers an improvement over previous methods, as it does not require the patient come in contact with the substance, and can also indicate the severity of the allergy.
