Better Navigation for Factory-Based Robots

Better Navigation for Factory-Based Robots
Apr-27-15
The Pan-Robots project hopes to make warehouse robots more efficient with the addition of some new onboard systems and a fish-eye lens.

The Pan-Robots project was developed to promote more technologies to improve robotic workers for the “Factory-of-the-Future,” including laser scanners, more advanced cameras, 3D maps and better intelligence systems. According to the team, a key component of the improvements is a stereo camera with fish-eye lenses that can provide the robot with 360 degree, 3D vision. When paired with the laser scanners seeking blind spots as well as scanners placed at strategic intersections, the system allows the robot to navigate safely and more efficiently.
