Boogio Makes Shoes Smarter

Jul-25-14 The Boogio device will make your shoes smarter, enabling them to be used as gaming controls as well as health monitors.

The Boogio system is made up of two units placed in each of the user's shoes, where they detect the forces of the wearer's foot and transmit the information to a mobile device via Bluetooth. According to the development team from REFLEX Labs, the paper-thin devices will be sensitive enough to detect small 3D movements in real time—which opens up gaming applications when paired with the Oculus Rift.

Boogio could have other applications as well, such as providing feedback on injury recovery or tracking fitness goals through gaming.
