Cardboard Help Desks Improve School Conditions

Cardboard Help Desks Improve School Conditions
Aug-13-14
The cardboard Help Desks cost only 20 cents to make, but they can drastically improve the conditions for schoolchildren in India.

Many children in India go to schools that have no desks, which can lead to posture or eyesight problems, and have no real means of carrying their supplies to class. The Help Desk, created by the Mumbai-based non-profit Aarambh, solves both these problems. Made of cardboard gathered from recycling centers and businesses, the Help Desk can fold up to become a briefcase-like backpack and open to function as a small desk.

The desks are already being distributed in schools in rural Maharashtra, and have been met with rousing success.
