Chargeboard Generates Energy While You Skate

Sep-22-14 The Chargeboard charges its battery while you skate, then flips over to be used as a docking station once you arrive at the party.

Created by Bjorn van den Hout as his graduation project, the prototype Chargeboard consists of a longboard with two 6V dynamos stashed in the rear axle. As the skater rides down the road, the kinetic energy of the spinning wheels is collected and stored in the onboard 5V power box. According to the designer, one hour of skating can generate enough power to fully-charge a smartphone, and the battery itself can hold enough energy for up to eight charges.
