Contact-Free AR60-A Detects Breast Cancer with Electricity

Jan-12-15 The AR60-A offers contact- and radiation-free breast cancer scanning by detecting the differences in the electrical properties of the cells.

Developed by TiaLinx, the laptop-sized AR60-A works by emitting a beam of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation and detecting the electrical differences of healthy and unhealthy cells using planar antennas. The abnormal cell clusters are highlighted on the device's screen. Besides eliminating the need for ionizing radiation, the AR60-A also delivers fine lateral resolution, improving the chances of detecting small, abnormal cells early in the disease.
