The DAAL wind noise cancellation system brings noise control to existing motorcycle helmets.
Riding a motorcycle at highway speeds is noisy business, which can hinder both comfort and safety. To offer a quieter ride, the DAAL active noise control system relies on microphones that detect the bothersome noise, which is then canceled by speakers emitting an inverted phase of the same amplitude.
Though active-noise cancellation technology is not new, the DAAL stands out in that it is cost-effective and can be installed in existing helmets by the manufacturer. The team also hopes to release a consumer version of the add-on system in the near future.
