Draper Implant Could Lead to Better Prosthetics

Draper Implant Could Lead to Better Prosthetics
Sep-24-16
A new implant that wraps around nerve endings could offer amputees much more control over their prosthetic devices.

Developed by Draper, the electrode implant differs from its counterparts in that it is designed to be wrapped around the nerves as well as directly interact with them, which offers more precise stimulation. The wireless system would transmit up to 20 megabytes of data each second, allowing many electrodes to be used simultaneously and offering much greater nuances of control to prosthetics users.
