Being hailed as a Fitbit for the car, the Drivebot is able to provide real-time monitoring of a car's performance and offer suggestions for repair.
Created by a team from Thailand, the Drivebot will monitor the car's mechanical health as well as the user's driving habits. It plugs into the car's On-Board Diagnostics port (found on most cars sold since 1996) and communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth. The main role of the device is to detect problems in their early stages and provide users with some simple solutions to solve the problems before they become more critical, and potentially more expensive.
The Drivebot could also save the user money in other ways by monitoring driving habits and indicating the best driving routes—which could help reduce fuel costs. The project has already exceeded its funding goal on Indiegogo.
