Dyson Backpacks Monitor Air for Breathe London Project

Dyson Backpacks Monitor Air for Breathe London Project
Mar-23-19
As part of the world’s largest air quality study, Dyson has created a backpack that will monitor the air quality exposure of 250 London school children.

The Breathe London Project, led by a team of King’s scientists, will rely in part on data collected by the Dyson backpacks, which are equipped with state-of-the-art sensors able to measure both particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide levels. The sensors weigh just over 1 kg, so are barely detectable, while the rest of the backpack functions as expected. The children will wear the sensor-equipped packs as they go about their day, allowing researchers to use the data to determine what type of air the children are exposed to, and where.
