EarEcho System Identifies the User's Ear

EarEcho System Identifies the User's Ear
Sep-22-19
The EarEcho system can authenticate users through the shape of their ears, offering a new source of bio-recognition.

Developed by a team from the University at Buffalo, the EarEcho system is made up of a set of off-the-shelf wireless earbuds that communicate with a smartphone. One of the earbuds emits an audio signal, which is reflected in the ear canal and then received by a small microphone before being sent to the companion app. That app can then determine if the person wearing the earbuds is indeed the assigned user, as established by an earlier baseline.
