EcoHelmet Designed for Rental Bikes

EcoHelmet Designed for Rental Bikes
Sep-25-16
Winner of a James Dyson award, the innovative EcoHelmet bike helmet is strong enough to protect the user and still be easily recycled.

Developed by Isis Shiffer of the Pratt Institute in response to the rise of bikeshare operations, the EcoHelment is designed for rental bike companies, which often prefer not to rent helmets because of hygiene issues.

To offer a more individualized option, the lightweight, paper-based helmet can fold for portability and storage, and then be recycled after several rides. The helmet is meant to be used by a single person for multiple rides, and will be equipped with an indicator that will alert the user when it had been degraded to a point that is no longer safe.
