Eko Attachment Brings New Electronics to Standard Stethoscopes

Eko Attachment Brings New Electronics to Standard Stethoscopes
Oct-05-14
The Eko Attachment attaches to almost any standard stethoscope to add a plethora of new features that can be accessed via smartphone.

While electronic stethoscopes have been available for some time, their use has not yet caught on. The Eko attachment, now anticipating imminent FDA clearance, hopes to make electronic stethoscopes more widely available by adding electronic capabilities to the analog devices.

The Eko attaches to the stem of a standard stethoscope's chestpiece, where it pairs with a companion app to deliver many of the same functions as an electronic version. Using the Eko, physicians can see and control a visual display of the audio, share recordings and notes for virtual collaborations, and even receive real-time analysis and aid in detecting murmurs.
