Electricity 'Out of Thin Air'

Electricity 'Out of Thin Air'
Feb-17-20
Scientists have developed a device that uses a natural protein to create electricity from moisture in the air.

The"Air-gen" (air-powered generator) connects electrodes to protein nanowires such that electrical current is generated from the water vapor in the atmosphere.

Air-gen doesn't require sunlight or wind, creates clean energy 24/7, is non-polluting, renewable and low-cost – it even works indoors.

Current Air-gen devices can power small electronics. The company's goal is to bring the invention to commercial scale with plans to power electronic wearables and smartwatches, which would eliminate the need for batteries.
