Imagine being able to walk again after 18 years in a wheelchair. eLEGS enabled Amanda Boxtel to do just that.
eLEGS is specifically designed to restore walking function to people with spinal cord injuries.
The legs are used in conjunction with crutches that act as the controls for movement. Pushing down on a crutch causes the opposite leg to step. Pushing down on both allows the wearer to transition from sitting to standing.
Developed by Berkeley Bionics, eLEGS are now in clinical trials.
