The Emma (Expert Manipulative Massage Automation) was developed for use by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physicians and sports therapists. Rather than replacing the human masseuse altogether, the Emma is meant to improve productivity by allowing a single therapist to treat several patients. The Emma is made up of a six-axis robotic arm equipped with 3D-printed, customized massage tip, and a 3D-stereoscopic camera that helps guide the robot through its programmed Chinese medicine massage.
