Energy-Generating Rubber

Energy-Generating Rubber
May-24-15
A piezoelectric rubber material able to generate energy when it stretches offers a flexible alternative to the more fragile ceramic versions.

Created by the Japanese company Ricoh, the “Energy-Generating Rubber” is said to be able to generate the same amount of electricity as ceramics while still remaining flexible and soft. The company envisions the material being used in a variety of applications, and could be particularly effective in powering flexible sensors.

I remember reading an article about a piezoelectric generator that flaps in the wind. As i recall, they were looking for materials to make it more durable.
