EP Tender Adds Range to EVs

EP Tender Adds Range to EVs
Aug-02-13
The EP Tender is a tow-behind generator for Electric Vehicles, helping to expand their range and possibly make the cars more attractive to consumers.

The EP Tender system consists of a 600cc engine mounted on a trailer that will activate when it receives a low-charge signal from the vehicle. Once signaled, the trailer will trigger the generator to begin charging the EV battery. Currently, the system can generate up to 22 kW of power at speeds up to 80 mph, although the company is working on a 35 kW system. However, since most mainstream EV are not meant to be charged while in motion, the system still has some tweaks to be worked out.
