Eye-Based Camera Sensor Reduces Photo-Blur

Eye-Based Camera Sensor Reduces Photo-Blur
Jun-19-14
Sony's new curved camera sensor was based on the eye's natural curvature, allowing for clearer photos and more low-light photographic capabilities.

The flat sensors in conventional cameras often result in photos that are a bit blurry around the edges. The new sensor, however, allows the light rays to strike it straight-on instead of at an angle—eliminating the blur. In addition, the strain caused by the curved sensor would enable photographers to use larger lens apertures, which allow more light to enter the camera and are particularly useful in low-light photography.

The technology is still in the early stages, but the team from Sony is already discussing its use in consumer products.
