Flat Pack Shape-Shifting Pasta

Flat Pack Shape-Shifting Pasta
May-27-17
MIT’s new flat-pack pasta will morph into shape during cooking.

The shape-shifting noodles are made up of layers of gelatin and starch, with a pattern of cellulose applied to the top layer. When the pasta is placed in water, the higher-density top layer absorbs water faster than the bottom layer, causing it to curl upwards in the pre-defined pattern.
