Flexible, Full Color E-Ink Display

Flexible, Full Color E-Ink Display
Oct-17-16
Researchers have created a flexible material able to produce a full range of color while requiring less power than an e-ink display

Developed by a team from Chalmers University of Technology, the e-ink display features a surface coating of electrically charged polymers that alter the way external light is absorbed and reflected. The system works very well in bright light (unlike conventional LED displays) and uses about a tenth of the energy required by a Kindle tablet.

One drawback to the technology is that it relies on gold and silver in the display, which raises the cost of production.
