Flexible Sensor Detects Impending Aneurysms

Flexible Sensor Detects Impending Aneurysms
Sep-08-19
A sensor able to monitor cerebral aneurysms after surgery could help prevent the dangerous ruptures before they occur.

The sensor was developed by a team from Georgia Tech using aerosol jet 3D printing to deposit a conductive silver wire onto an elastomer. The wireless, flexible sensor can be printed to match the implant is attached to, whereupon it will monitor blood flow through the device to detect any changes near the implanted stent or blood flow diverter before the situation becomes too severe.
