Floating Interactive Display

Floating Interactive Display
Oct-11-13
The Aerial Imaging Plate projects images into the air, creating a sort of floating-image touchscreen that could be used to create point of sale devices and more secure ATMs.

The AI plate reflects light twice to form an image that seems to float just above the plate. Adding sensors to the system enables users to interact with the floating images in the same way as with a traditional touchscreen, but without making physical contact with the surface. The display also has a narrow viewing angle, allowing only the direct user to see the projected images.

The floating image technology could also be applied to advertising, slot machines and vending machines.
