Flow Battery Stores Energy Economically

Apr-12-20 Researchers have developed a new version of a redox flow battery that is not only eco-friendly and promises to significantly reduce storage costs.

The redox flow battery is made up of positive chemicals and negative chemicals stored in separate tanks. The chemicals exchange ions across a membrane flowing one way to charge and the other to discharge.

Unlike previous editions that used expensive, dangerous, and toxic chemicals, the new design uses organic and more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Tests confirm that the battery was able to charge and discharge hundreds of times with virtually no loss of power.
