For a mere $194,000, you too can be the proud owner of the Transition - a flying car developed by Terrafugia. They already have orders for 70 of them.Transition can carry 430 lbs., including passengers and fuel, and you only need 20 logged hours of air time to get your light sport aircraft license.
The vehicle's wings fold up when used for on-road driving, and it can be driven at highway speeds. It uses unleaded gasoline, a more environmentally choice than aviation fuel, and has a flying range of 460 miles.

Unfortunately someone has to be realistic here and it has been proven that no matter how well you engineer these things you still end up with one of two things:
1 A compromised car
2 A compromised aircraft
This is not what you want in either of the above. Having flown quite a few light aircraft I'd say least of all in the latter!
That said this is as close as you are going to get and it remains an awesome piece of engineering.
