Flying Phantom Sails Above the Water

Flying Phantom Sails Above the Water
Mar-10-14
The Flying Phantom Catamaran takes sailing to new heights with its uniquely shaped foils and rudder that allow it to sail above the surface of the water.

The catamaran’s hook-shaped hydrofoils allow it to rise up out of the water, relieving drag and proving a much smoother ride, in winds as low as 7 knots. The Flying Phantom is also equipped with ‘T’ shaped rudder, which provides both pitch and heave stability in full flight without significantly affecting the craft’s speed. The design team also encouraged the craft’s flight abilities by using lightweight building materials and a longer mast, providing additional power.

Although hydrofoiling is not new to the sailing world, the Flying Phantom is the first to bring the opportunity to the commercial market.
