An origami-inspired antenna compresses or expands to block different frequencies based on need.
The antenna was created by a team at the Georgia Institute of Technology using the Miura-Ori fold, which can expand or contract. The fold lines were scored using a specialized printer, followed by lines of silver ink applied via an ink-jet printer. The flexible antenna can be lengthened or closed to filter different frequencies as the dipoles change proximity, and can also be compressed for transport or slipping through small spaces.
