Fondue-Inspired Slippers Provide a Perfect Fit

Fondue-Inspired Slippers Provide a Perfect Fit
Jun-08-14
Inspired by the gooey coatings of fondue, the Fondue Slipper concept would let you create your own tailor-fit shoes with ease.

Japanese designer Satsuki Ohata conceived the idea in order to allow wearers to have the sense of walking around barefoot while still protecting their feet. The slipper is formed by first casting a mold of each foot, then dipping the molds into liquid PVC and immediately heating it at 400⁰F to 575⁰F. The result is a form-fitting, durable plastic slipper that can be used both indoors and out.

Ohata has already begin planning the distribution of a kit that would allow people to make their own slippers at home.
