Graphair Filter 'Supercharges' Water Filtration

Graphair Filter 'Supercharges' Water Filtration
Feb-18-18
Made from soybean oil, the Graphair filter can purify even extremely polluted water in one step.

Developed by a team from CSIRO, the microscopic channels of the Graphair filter allow water to move through while blocking the contaminants. When applied as a thin film to a standard water filter, the new device was able to render the polluted water of Sydney Harbor safe to drink in just one pass.

According to the team, the inexpensive filter eliminates the need for a multi-stage process, and the technology could eventually be used to filter industrial wastewater or seawater for homes or even entire towns.
