Handheld Plasma Pen Treats Skin Non-Invasively

Handheld Plasma Pen Treats Skin Non-Invasively
Apr-27-16
A handheld plasma pen able to treat skin conditions with ionized gas has the potential to bring great changes to both cosmetic and aesthetic surgeries.

The plasma pen, created by Triteq Ltd for Fourth State Medicine Ltd, is made up of a handheld unit that holds the plasma engine and nozzle. The gas is sent to the device via an attached cord, where it then flows over electrodes in the nozzle to become plasma. The type of plasma can be determined by altering the power sent through the electrodes, and a spacer on the nozzles tip ensures the plasma is released at the correct distance from the skin for safe and effective treatment.

The team is now working on a version of the device that would be suitable for use in medical clinics.
