Harvesting Renewable Energy with Graphene Solar Thermal Film

Harvesting Renewable Energy with Graphene Solar Thermal Film
Mar-26-20
Researchers have developed a new graphene-based film that can absorb sunlight with an efficiency of over 90 percent.

It can heat up rapidly in an open environment while simultaneously eliminating most IR thermal emission loss.

Applications for the film include thermal energy harvesting and storage, thermoelectricity generation, and seawater desalination. The metamaterial can also be used for energy harvesting and conversion applications, steam generation, and wastewater cleaning.

The current roadblock is in finding a manufacturing a method for making the substrate scalable.
