Home Biogas Converts Food Scraps to Energy

Home Biogas Converts Food Scraps to Energy
Dec-01-15
The compact, HomeBiogas system turns food scraps into a high-quality liquid fertilizer and clean biogass that can be used for cooking or lighting.

Designed for families in urban as well as rural areas, the HomeBiogas features an anaerobic system that can process up to 1.6 gallons of food waste per day, producing both the biogas and a high-quality liquid fertilizer as a byproduct. According to the team, the system is able to generate enough methane for up to three hours of cooking time—which can be piped directly to the stove—and the low pressure of the gas reduces the risk of explosions. In fact, the HomeBioGas system is the first of its kind to receive the European CE stamp of approval for safety.
