Hoobox Wheelie Wheelchair Controlled by a Wink and a Smile

Hoobox Wheelie Wheelchair Controlled by a Wink and a Smile
Dec-05-18
The AI-enabled Wheelie wheelchair from Hoobox Robotics is controlled entirely by facial expressions.

Developed by Hoobox in partnership with Intel, the Wheelie wheelchair continuously monitors the user’s facial expressions with it onboard camera. Specific expressions, such as pursed lips or a wink, are detected by the system and interpreted as commands to control the chair. The Wheelie’s AI is also able to ignore inadvertent gestures—recognizing only intentional ones—and the control system can be paused when desired, such as during a conversation.
