HUD Prototype Overlays the Directions on the Road Ahead
Aug-06-14
Continental's new Augmented Reality Heads-Up Display (AR-HUD) prototype projects the information as on overlay on the road ahead, making the data a bit easier to interpret.

By combining information from the vehicle's camera and radar with the vehicle's stats, maps and GPS, the system can create a driver's-view model of the road ahead. That model can then be used to project a full-color graphical display on the windshield that correlates to road and includes information about turns, road conditions or the distance to the next car. Since the information is displayed in the driver's field of view, the driver's eyes never need to leave the road.
