A new app that detects the early warning signs for Parkinson’s could lead to earlier treatment options for the disease.
Developed as part of the i-Prognosis project, the smartphone and smartwatch app relies on the sensors found in today’s mobile devices and machine learning to detect the early signs of Parkinson’s, including voice characteristics, hand steadiness and facial expressions on photographs. This data, which would only be gathered with the permission of the individual, is analyzed in detail to detect the signs of Parkinson’s in a way doctors are not capable.
