Injectable Sensors Monitor Health with a Smartphone

Injectable Sensors Monitor Health with a Smartphone
Mar-20-18
The tiny, injectable biosensors from Profusa Inc could allow users to track their health with a smartphone.

The tiny sensors feature a hydrogel-based scaffold structure free of flat surfaces, which prevents the devices from being rejected by the body. The polymer material of the sensors is wreathed in dye molecules that will fluoresce to different degrees when an infrared light from a handheld device is shone through the skin. The amount of fluorescence is determined by the presence of different biochemicals in the body, which can indicate potential health issues.
