Intel Announces 'Make It Wearable' Finalists
Apr-08-14
Intel has announced the finalists of their Make It Wearable competition, with entries ranging from oxygen-creating clothing to a device that allows users to read while running on a treadmill.

The competition was created as a way to promote Intel's SD card-sized PC, and this group of finalists was drawn from the visionary category called Dream It—big idea products designed with the potential to change the world. The finalists include:

The Run-n-Read from Aditya Bansal, which clips onto clothing to sync the runner's eye movements with the text on a digital reader.

The Peltier Jacket from Mael Flament, which is equipped with a solid-state heat pump that generates electricity as it transfers heat from one side of the jacket to the other.

The Widom Tooth from Noa Bakish, meant to be implanted in the empty socket of a removed wisdom tooth to monitor mouth health and eating habits.

The child-monitoring Lovey from Eberhard Frank, designed to monitor a child's level of social engagement as well as keep track of their whereabouts.

The Clouds Can Breathe from Amira Mahmoud, a specially created fabric that will absorb human sweat and carbon dioxide to create oxygen.

The next strand of the completion, Build It, encourages innovators to "push the limits of what's possible, balancing creativity with execution." Registration for the Build It track begins this summer.
