Jellyfishbot Could Deliver Targeted Treatment

Jellyfishbot Could Deliver Targeted Treatment
Jul-14-19
An innovative Jellyfishbot could deliver drugs in the body and also help study the environment.

The Jellyfishbot was originally created by a team from the Max Planck Institute to study how jellyfish interact with their marine habitat. Propelled by magnetic particles embedded in its elastomer body, the bot can be controlled via external magnets to perform a variety of tasks, including transporting beads and mixing fluids. Looking ahead, the team hopes to develop the Jellyfishbot to the point that it could be guided in the body to locate cancerous tissue and release medication in controlled doses over time.
